    Members,

At yesterday's (12/06/2021) AGM the future of the SAANQ was discussed at great length and a Resolution passed to wind up the organisation due to the lack of member interest. I wish to stress this decision was not made lightly nor was it attributed to any one issue, such as COVID. Over the past 4 or so years interest in being a member for SAANQ has declined to the point where, apart from the Executive, attendance at meetings would consist of 2 or 3 members. The Secretary noted that whilst there were in excess of 60 people registered the response he has received from invitations sent were negligible to say the least.

Both the Secretary and Treasurer have relocated to Brisbane and all positions in the Executive were vacated, there was not one nomination received from members to fill those positions.

The assets belonging to SAANQ will be divided between both SAA and SAAQ, as appropriate, along with a formal request for SAAQ to support and continue to fund the Kev Marengo Award. The Secretary will be keeping all appraised on the progress of the dissolving of the SAANQ and disbursement of assets. That leads to SUBCON 2022 - as SAANQ will not exist as an organisation, we will not be hosting. Unfortunately I suspect we will forfeit our deposit of $1500.00 however that has yet to be seen.

What the future brings remains to be seen, however if in the future NQ Submariners  wish to reform an association I would more that support it however it takes more that 5 or 6 people (out of 60+) to make it work.

As noted above, all members were invited to attend/make comment/provide a proxy vote however there was not uptake and the resolution to disband SAANQ passed as a formality.

    Regretfully,

    Des
